Luigi Meneghello has passed away

This morning Luigi Meneghello has been found dead in his house in Thiene my birth city. Another great man behing a great writer passed the black river. He his almost known in all the world for his book “Libera nos a Malo”, which is the last sentences of Holy father pray. But Malo is also the name of the town where I currently live after get married, so the sentence also mean “set us free from Malo”. I think that his best book  “Libera Nos a Malo”, t describes very well Italy after the second world war, in the so called “boom” period where the rural society as moved to the industrial and monetized one. The characters are greatly described and the main figures in the city: the priest, the city chef, the teacher are a great representation of a way of thinking that is still permeating our Veneto. Goodbye Luigi, even if it is not necessary you’re justified your life.

Perelman

During the soviet era a great list of mathematician have worked on interesting problem, but unfortunaly all the informations and the reasearch have been secreted to the international community, particullary the USA one. Now we started to fully appreciated all the reasearch and the great russian minds.

The last in order of time, is Grigori Perelman  who has refused the Fields Medal for his research on Poincarè’s conjecture. He has hide himself in Sant Petersburg, as other great mind in the past like Alexander Grothendieck. Now at the blog English russia, there are some photos took in St. Petersburg subway . From what wee see the binomio mathematics=foolish is still actuall.
